It's some times suprising how many folks don't realize that the whip antenna on most (if not all) portable radios is not for AM reception. It looks like it should be because it's a big antenna on the back of the radio! It's for FM and / or shortwave. Better AM reception just might be as simple as rotating the radio a bit to the left or the right. Hope this helps AM Talk Radio fans!
