Just getting started with my Technician License this week and would like to know Just what will be the diferance between the 2 meter and the 11 meter CB. I know on the 2 meter i can use the repeaters in the area but what about simplex will the 2 meter get out further than the 11 meter CB or are they going to be about the same?

I have also noticed that the 2 meter base stations that people are using are no more that a mobile, What happed to the 2 meter base stations, They use to look like a radio?

2M will out perform 11M CB because we have the ability to use more power coupled with the fact that you can use decent antennas to get some range out of them.

I wish they still had 2M base stations as well, the only one I can think of is the Icom IC- 910, which does 440MHz as well.
