Please excuse the post Im not really into HAM radio but I thought a
member may be able to help.
I am trying to replicate a circuit that someone has posted on another
group (not radio related) that apparently uses a mechanical
multivibrator that may have originated from an early valve radio
transmitter.
I have googled for information on these but get swamped by solid state
reply's.
If anyone has a link to any information or knows of anyone still
producing such things I would appreciate a message.
Thanks
John Harris

You need to tell us a bit more about what you are trying to achieve.
It's possible you are looking for information on vibrators as used in
DC power supplies but without more information it's hard to tell.

I'm not exactly sure what you are after, John, but prior to about
1960 most car radios had mechanical vibrators in them to convert 6 or
12 VDC into an interrupted DC (not really AC) so that the voltage
could be stepped up via transformer to 150 volts or so. This was
because the tubes or "valves" required higher voltages than the car
battery could supply. With the advent of solid state, 12VDC was the
perfect voltage so vibrators went the way of the buggy whip.

Look on eBay and buy an old 1950's car radio. If it isn't a
collectors' item you can get it for around $10USD and it'll have a
vibrator in it.

Hope this helps. --Ron (KZ7P)

I have seen them once in a blue moon in catalogs to get the correct radio
for the car going again. Look on the Web and in parts catalogs for pre 1960
cars too.
